The tradition of clubs for the purpose of civic pride, service, and socializing has a long history in our area. The Gainesville Junior Woman’s Club is a major part of that tradition, and our place in the fabric of our community is a vital one.
Our club is committed to providing our membership with opportunities to connect to the community through service and social events. We are a low-key group of women from diverse backgrounds who share a common desire to make an impact, develop lasting friendships, and learn about the place we live, work and play.
I have been a proud member of the GJWC since 1995, with a brief hiatus to concentrate on work and family, between 2003-2007. The connections that I have made are some of the most important of my life, and I value the added dimensions that being a Junior has added to my life.
If you are looking for a way to become a part of something bigger than yourself, and having fun at the same time, you have found the right spot! Join us for a meeting, a social event, a book club meeting, or a fundraiser and learn more.
Hope to see you soon as we build the Club in 2011.

Junior Pledge
I pledge my loyalty to the Junior Club Woman
By doing better than ever before what work I have to do;
By being prompt, honest and courteous;
By living each day, trying to accomplish something;
Not merely to exist.
- Helen Cheney Kimberly, 1916

Keep us, oh God, from pettiness; let us be large in thought, in word, in deed.
Let us be done with fault finding and leave off self-seeking.
May we put away all pretense and meet each other face to face without self-pity and without prejudice.
May we never be hasty in judgment and always be generous.
Let us take time for all things; make us grow calm, serene, gentle.
Teach us to put into action our better impulses, straight forward and unafraid.
Grant that we may realize it is the little things that create differences, that in the big things of life we are at one.
And may we strive to touch and to know the great, common human heart of us all, and oh, Lord God, let us forget not to be kind.
- Mary Stewart
